a two-hour, gender-affirming workshop designed to support you with physical and emotional well-being during pregnancy and after birth.

Giving birth and being born brings us into the essence of creation, where the human spirit is courageous and bold and the body, a miracle of wisdom.

-Harriette Hartigan

We’ve all heard that it takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to support a parent. If you’re pregnant or a new parent, you are undergoing a seismic shift in your life. Our society lacks rites of passage, and while baby showers and alllll of the advice can usher in a new way of being, this is a time where we most need community and support. We are giving birth not only to a child but to a new version of ourselves, both physically and emotionally.

Pregnancy and parenthood can be wonderful and transformative experiences AND can also come with unique physical and emotional challenges. Challenges that are often sugarcoated, leaving most parents feeling alone searching Google for answers to what a community used to provide.

Our workshop is designed to provide you with practical tools, strategies, and most of all, a community to support you with the emotional and physical journey of pregnancy and postpartum

Our workshop is led by Dr. Michael Zabala Aquino (he/they), an orthopedic and pelvic health doctor of physical therapy, and Sara Povey, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. We both understand the complexity of this journey and are passionate about providing a safe and inclusive community for all who find our workshop.

During the workshop, you'll learn:

  • How to manage physical discomfort during pregnancy and postpartum

  • How to identify and cope with postpartum depression and anxiety

  • Strategies to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and prevent incontinence

  • Tips for optimizing postpartum recovery and healing

  • Techniques to manage stress and build resilience during the transition to parenthood
