GETTING PAST YOUR PAST.

When we experience trauma, it can feel like it becomes the totality of who we are.

It shakes us to our core and changes our relationship with ourselves, the way we move through the world, and who we can trust.

Living with trauma can feel like you’re walking through a fog. Here are some ways that trauma can manifest:

  • Difficulty getting out of bed or going to sleep

  • Feeling like you’re in a fog

  • Memory loss or forgetfulness

  • Playing out the same patterns in your relationships

  • Struggling to sit still, constantly busying your way out of the moment

  • Anxiety

  • Feelings of shame, self-punishment

  • Sense of overwhelming

Trauma almost always comes with a side dish of shame. When bad things happen to us - we organize our reality by making it about who we are. As a result, we tend to internalize feelings of worthlessness, brokenness, and unlovability which can last way after the traumatic event is over.

And as much as we would like to, we can’t just think our way out of it (I know you’ve probably tried that already!)

We have to do the work - which can be really hard. Unbearable even. But at some point, the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change.

Our approach to working with trauma is collaborative and warm. We are fellow travelers on this journey to healing and we are with you every step of the way.

Trauma happens fast so we move slowly and never take you anywhere you don’t feel comfortable going in therapy.

You deserve more than to be hijacked by your trauma. We are ready to support you as you courageously show up for yourself.

Our evidence-based, scientifically proven models are shown to be effective in overcoming trauma. Learn more about these empirically validated methods by visiting our EMDR and IFS pages.
